Failed Authentication Key?

I tried to get on Blockland but it took me back to the deom version saying my authentication failed because I have an "invalid key." I just used the key recover, so I'm waiting for the email. I think I remember a topic like this before, but i'm still curious, does anybody have any idea what caused this?
