Blockland crashes under WINE using Ubuntu 7.10 after a few minutes in-game.  Any ideas on a fix/work around?

Update to the new ubuntu, and get a new version of wine, I don't know if ubuntu 8.04 was out when you posted.

I am going to try this, when I get my mouse working. Apparently it works great on tests.

Ok installed Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy on my MacBook. Gonna have a go once I get wine.

Got it working on Ubuntu 7.10.

Instructions:
1. Download and install game.
2. Open up the terminal and paste:

cd "/home/****/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Blockland"

where **** is your username.

and press Enter.

3. Paste into the terminal:

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3dx8=n" wine Blockland.exe

It might not open and flicker about for a minute, but then it works. :D

Also if it runs slow, its because you haven't activated your graphics card or w/e

Hmm it appears the newest wine allows you to run the game without commands.

Install game
Run it

Thats a new list ^_^

BTW It crashed like 10 minutes in game, then when I replayed it lasted a good 30 minutes but I got bored and left. :P

Sorry to bump an old topic, but I didn't want to make a new one when this one already exists.

I'm on the newest version of Ubuntu and when I try to run BL with Wine, BL stops responding right after it authenticates, halp?

I only use 7.10, so I can't help you. You could try searching on the Ubuntu forums for something.
