Author Topic: From sketchup to blockland?  (Read 5651 times)

I've been chasing my tail trying to find out how to export files from Sketchup -> Through to some other program -> To .Dts

I've sent a message to Pload (Referred to by TheGeek) but hes not answering my messages.

Does anyone else use sketchup, and if so how do you export your models to .Dts?

I think you go Sketchup -> .obj -> Milkshape -> .dts

Just tried that, its all screwed up.

If you have the full version of Sketchup (theres a 140 hour trial available) you can convert to 3DS format, then import that into milkshape.

Is there anyway in sketchup to make faces and edges so they don't turn up black when I import them to milkshape?

I've been trying to reverse it all, but its simply to hard on my model.

Edit: I have Google sketchup 6 Pro , full version

You can do it with free sketchup.

1. Save as .kmz file.
2. Rename .kmz to .zip.
3. Extract the file.
4. Start your favorite program that can import Collada 1.4 files.
5. Import the .dae file found in the models folder you just unzipped.
6. Do whatever else you need to do and export normally.

I found an exporter for the free version of Sketchup that can make .obj files, then use Obj2DTS. However, I do not know whether this works correctly - how you can define animations, mounts or muzzlePoints for vehicles and weapons.

obj files don't support animations. I'm pretty sure it doesn't support mounts or muzzlePoints too.

Import the .dts into Shaper and then add that stuff. Then export again.
