Author Topic: Minimum required for console server?  (Read 1010 times)

Just wondering, not so much hardware specs, but the software which is required. Alot of overhead can be freed by switching to Windows 2000, or even Windows 9x (Not that I would) or DOS (Which would be more likely than Win98).

Did I say Linux? I dont want to recompile. I'm talking Microsoft. Does Blockland require an NT environment, or a DOS environment?

Yes sir.

I'm sure if you are simply planning to host a dedicated server, Windows 2000 or 9x would do the job just fine.
Not too sure about DOS though.

You should do some experimenting with different environments to run a dedicated in, since I don't know much about that field either. It'd be useful to know, for sure.

I'll give it a shot, I have a nice mini-server in the works, and Server 2003 Ent used 75MB of RAM... Mighty overbudget.

I'm going to try Server 2000 (nLite, of course) and 98 (not going to Lite it) and then DOS. See what happens.
