Speaking of women and boats...I learned something interesting a while ago about the whole Christening of ships ceremony. Back in the days of the savage Norsemen (and I will say savage as you'll clearly see) They used to tie virgin women onto the running planks for boats to run them over in order to bless them and protect them at sea.
Thankfully someone got a brain and figured, "Why waste a good woman when I can use something else? Now I have a lovey fertile she-viking all to my self!" So they switched it for farm animals. Even that got ousted some time later, so now we use red wine to take the place of the former goats who formerly took the woman's place and we have our little celebration.
Of course, now some people are alcoholics and see that as an extreme waste of a good wine.....When will this madness stop?????
