Author Topic: Modeling  (Read 1001 times)

Hiya. I'm gonna start modeling, and I want to know, which modeler should I use?

Right now I use Milkshape but It doesn't do so good putting stuff together...

Elaborate on 'putting stuff together'
For Blockland I believe Sketchup would go really well. You would need to get the pro version in order to export to Milkshape, because you'll need it to add the joints and flatshade.

A modelling program also depends on your style. If you like to have a simple interface with decent functionality, I'd go for Anim8or, Sketchup, Wings3D, Milkshape or anything of the like. If you prefer a somewhat more complicated interface but a butt load more functionality, go for 3dsmax, blender, etc.

I'm telling you, there is no best program for anything. Ofcourse some offer more features then others, but that aside, it all depends on you.
Ephi can make a fantastic hands in Milkshape, an easy modeling program, on the other hand [lol pun], Facechild can make a fantastic hand no better nor worse then Ephi's in the program he uses (Was it Maya or 3dsmax? I forget), which is one of the harder modeling programs.

It all depends on you. So get out there and find the program that suits you best. Experiment with a few and try to challenge yourself in the program you think is good for you. The rest will come.

K..Must start modeling small to get good quality..
Could you tell me how to texture into Milkshape? Dunno how..

This is all off the top of my head, don't have milkshape atm;
Materials tab, make a new material, choose the parts that you want to set that material to and well, set it.
