with the dry ice the smoke would flood the deck and it would be a goast ship.  put a hose coming out of it and connect it to a fog machine.  put scented fog juice in for the lulz.

If you warm the fog slightly before it exits the funnel it will be lighter than air and will not fall onto the deck. Minute temperature changes will control how high or low it goes.

or just pump steam into it.  but that comes with the risk of more fier or burnt hand or ruined boat

Or I could not do any of that crap to it and not risk anything!

I have begun the laminating process using 1/16" walnut veneer. I cut these into 1/4" thick strips and attached them to the ribs via 5-minute epoxy.






Any reason in particular for using that type of wood? Balsa is a nice soft wood, great for what you are doing.

Also, weren't you putting on metal plating or something?

Balsa is too soft. This is not only to shape it, but to strengthen it. As for plating, that's in the not-too-distant future.
