Author Topic: Downloading A Video On Youtube  (Read 2152 times)

Kinda stupid, but how do I download a movie that's on youtube?

If you are using Firefox, there is an Addon you can get.  DownloadHelper is good for just the basic stuff.  A while ago on the Giveaway of the Day, they gave away the Wondershare Youtube Downloader.  I'm sure there are many other things you can use.

Zamzar works.
It can take a while but it does work.
You just need a valid e-mail address.
www.zamzar.com (you can convert the sound in a YouTube video to a sound file, as well as converting it into a video file, which will get e-mailed to you.)

If you have firefox, This may be the most trusted way so far.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2254
It automatically installs itself since it's on the mozilla website.
But you may need a FLV converter, That may be found right here.

You owned me, I'm on Firefox 3.

That Firefox thing doesn't work in FF3, though.

For converters, try FFMPEG: it's so awesome that it can only be contained in a command-line utility and might be illegal in the USA :cookieMonster:

It's a good converter of anything to anything. ASF, AVI (yay copyright Microsoft), BFI, IFF, RL2, FLV (yay copyright Adobe), Matroska, Maxis XA, MSN Webcam stream, MPEG, TXD, OMA and WMV (more copyright Microsoft) and a lot more.
