Well don't you see Mac commercials? They are trying to make us look like old ppl and weird ppl. Mac has less games because its new, and the first personal computer company was Apple. Anyway, Apple some reason is making commercials PC or whatever never made.
And apple started out small, 2 friends made a bunch of PC's and gave them out free to schools. No if your thinking I like Mac, I have never touched a Mac.

Let me end this now. Mac sucks, and you know what? I own one and do not have any access to a Windows computer so therefore I am a very un-happy Mac user. Macs are slow, I get multiple freezes in one session and I don't have a virus; they definitely cannot do what Windows or Ubuntu can. The keyboards that are packaged with the Mac that fit the "style" of the desktop are cheap, I have had to buy two loving keyboards due to the previous ones breaking and I am not going to start on the piece of stuff that Apple calls a mouse. I am happy to say that I am going to possibly get a Windows computer and when I do I will rip my Mac off of the wall, cords 'a trailing, and personally throw it down a well in the heart of Africa and feel that I have done a good deed. There is no competition here, Windows is obviously the dominant operating system. Save yourselves and don't buy one.

I think your confused. Yes, Microsoft does own 90% of the market, but that is because those people chose that OS, because that OS was mainstream, it was proven, it is compatible with the applications they need and the hardware they have.

Mac dominates EVERYTHING with their product though, its not just an OS, its hardware that you basically have to use and guess who owns the whole shabam? Apple. As of late that decision has come to bite them in the butt and so now we see Apple blurring the lines a bit between the 2 operating systems.

No, no, you see Microsoft tries to dominate everything. They started out as an OS. Now they have keyboards, mice, headphones, games, joysticks, a loving console etc. Then there's the stuff they take from everyone else, like the Zune and what not. On top of that they try to keep the market STUCK in there loving operating system by creating new format after format when the rest of the world is using loving open source.

Maybe you haven't loving updated your makes OS or something because basically every Mac OS update is FASTER and contains MORE features. In some cases they even reduce its size. Then you have Windows, the loving OS pig, that requires you to upgrade your computer single loving time a new OS is released. They ran the latest version of Mac OS on one of there earlier units, it wasn't fast, but it was functional.

Windows is not superior. Its only achievement is the fact it managed to tie a rope around everyone's bulls and pull them around on its trip of fail. Yeah its widely supported for many games and software, but that's only because it dominates the market. Yeah you can upgrade your computer whenever you want, however you want, but that's also part of the OS's instability. Microsoft will die, and unfortunately for us, slowly.

Windows rocks, microsoft is the dominant one because, it is one of the oldest i think. And has made alot of stuff other than computers.

1. "Microsoft tries to dominate everything" - It may appear that way, but its easy for any frustrated or bored person to point the finger at mister mega corporation over there. Yes MS sells a variety of products. That is essentially what makes a good company a great one. By having a diverse set of products you allow the company to weather harsh times and changing markets. I don't see you bitching about how Apple dominates the MP3 player market? It makes loads of other products too! Is Apple trying to rule the world as well?

2. "that requires you to upgrade your computer single loving time a new OS is released" - Yes, it's true, new windows OSs do typically require a hardware upgrade, but that is because they are an improvement over the old OS. Each "jump" brings in new technologies that allow more tasks to happen at the same time in a more aesthetically pleasing manner. I assume you are referring to Vista and so I will say that you can disable Aero if you computer really sucks that much and you will find a significant performance boost. Also, Vista uses that "huge" amount of memory to store temporarily files you have been using. That memory is surrendered to other applications as needed.

3. "when the rest of the world is using loving open source" - I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Most applications and operating systems are not open source. Only a select few like Linux and other programs like GIMP are truly open source and these are definetly not mainstream programs. I'm not saying open source is bad, it certainly has it's advantages, but there is a little thing called profit and most functional companies run on it.

Your certainly a very angry and disturbed person Skele. Despite what you think, Windows has done a great job of creating, supporting and selling their products. Mac has done well too, but I don't think the world really needs 2 equally competitive OSs because that just leads to difficulties with finding appropriate applications and compatibility. Your not tough, nor "deep" for wanting to fight "the man".

I respect apple, some reason Apple decided to make Macs when they were the first PC company. Microsoft has alot of stuff, but they mostly focus on gaming consoles and computers. But still about the way I heard about Mac, it seems as if I don't want one.
Oh yea Mac commercials are hilarious, they make PC's and yet, they make fun of them. I think that Apple should stay in the PC buisness.

I love how the Mac ads can tell out-right lies and everybody just laughs along with it. In the words of that project A guy... "slander"

Pretty much they make 2 points in those ads...

1. PCs crash all the time - nope, not since ME or 98 has windows atleast. XP and Vista are both stable systems. It is other applications that are buggy and prone to failures. Fortunately Vista just closes the program when an error occurs. Freezing is rare, if not non-existent.

2. Macs are for editing, PCs are for spreadsheets - Hmm...Last time I check, PCs are for gaming, editing and any other multimedia manipulation you can do on a Mac. You can make movies, edit pictures and save the world all on a PC, and yes, it can make spreadsheets and other documents too.

Well, parts of what you quoted from me you didn't quote all of. It's not like I said that stuff without something before or after to help back it up.

1. They try to dominate the market by trapping people in there formats, not because everyone thinks their product is great. Apple's Mp3 player on the other hand is the best out there, which is why it's dominating.

2. I explained before hand that each version of Mac OS became faster, had more features, and in some cases required less space, all of which ran on basically the same system requirements. Where as Windows seems to not grasp that concept.

3. Open source formats. Basically formats that are globally used by the majority of products. Take .doc from the old Word. It was used for how long? Now Microsoft decides, "Oh, looks like it's time for a new format, even though it isn't necessary." So now the new Word uses... .docx. Hmmm, was that necessary? No. What it does is trap people into there operating system. A few corporations upgrade to Vista and the new Office. They start using the new formats. Soon anyone who doesn't have those formats is required to get the programs to read them. Since the new Office is the only thing at the time that can everyone gets it. Microsoft makes money and forgets the consumers over again.

There is an open source format for tons of stuff out there, but instead of Microsoft getting with the program, they continue to do what they've been doing forever.

1. Their formats aren't trapping anyone. There are plenty of programs other than those found in office that can open, edit and even create documents that use their file formats, some are even free.

Apple's Ipod is hardly the best. It maybe ubiquitous but it certainly not the best, there are other MP3 players out there with more features, more compatibility for less money than the ipod such as those from Creative or Iriver. It's dominating because people barely even consider other brands when they see all their friends using their ipods, despite the huge reasons not to. Bandwagon mentality at it's worst.

2. If there is one good thing about Apple controlling everything about their computers (including hardware) it is that they have the advantage of knowing what they are working with. Microsoft, on the other hand, has to make assumptions on the level of hardware that it's userbase uses. It also has to consider current and future technologies and the demands of all the software applications that must run on those machines. I think you will that Windows is fairly flexible. You can go with all the bells and whistles if you have the hardware, or you can scale it back and run a more modest set up. Customisability is one of the good facets of Windows.

3. Again back to the formats? *sigh*. They release new formats to meet the needs and wants of it's customers. Take the new word files for example, the files are handled differently now and support a wider array of effects and editing possibilities warranting a new format. The office programs are also backwards compatible.

Last time I checked, I am pretty sure Apple has their own set of proprietary file formats too. And, they likely also have a set of tools available from 3rd party developers who make competing products that use their formats too.

Apple is about ease of use and a friendly environment to the customer.
Yeah sure there are other Mp3 players that are better, but the problem arises from other things, I can't remember exactly what it is but it has to do something with the music companies and the chaotic requirements some songs need for certain players. I think it's DRM but I'm not sure. Where as Apple supplies basically every song out there, for good prices, and every one of those songs is easy to obtain and will always work on your iPod or in iTunes. iTunes is also quickly becoming the number one music store in the world, proving that it works and works well. That's what makes the iPod the best.
Along with ease of use and stability is the fact that all the hardware is predetermined. Yeah sure it doesn't mean you can customize that well but all of there machines are good quality to begin with and don't really need to be upgraded that often (as I said before, new versions of their OS run faster, with more features, and are sometimes smaller on the same system requirements as the previous version). With all the customization you can have with Windows comes issues. You're never guaranteed a certain configuration of hardware will work properly and most people don't have the time, patience or desire to deal with those problems. Apple gives the users an easy to use, user friendly operating system and machine set up. Any issues you may have are dealt with by a great technical support team at every Apple store.

You have to realize that the majority of the world don't care about the details. They want something that will work for their every day needs, do it well and without problems. Macs offer this it's just no one is willing to switch over just yet.

Besides, in the end Mac is going the right way. Computing is becoming portable. With the iPhone and iPod Touch they have started the next level of computing. Why bother with a laptop or home desktop when all your files can be accessed, altered, etc, from your pocket? Window can continue trying to copy the features of everyone else, while the rest of the world moves on.

Oh and in case you mention gaming on an portable, doesn't really matter. Consoles will eventually become the only form of gaming anyways because of the fact you don't really need to install or screw around with hardware, you just put the disk in and play.

Humans crave convenience, therefore it will always win.

This is probably my last post on this as there's almost no point in trying to explain this too any of you.

Seeing that that was possibly your last post, you don't have to answer this. I have all the new updates, and I have OSX Leopard. Plus we all have to remember that what operating system we like is all a matter of preference and really is not need to "hate" each other about...

I just hate the Mac because they made suck ass commercials, mostly beating on Vista and about FATAL ERRORS.

That whole deal about the Mac not having any compatible viruses to infect it? Well there are several system crippling ones out there now, just for the Mac. Have fun surfing the internet.

why do people think an OS using craploads of memory is a bad thing? its frikin 2008 and there's new software technology's now.
i didn't buy 8g of ram to not be used...

average gamers are now getting into 4g of ram, and im yet to see any one game or app use much more then 2.
the huge memory is for multitasking, something you WANT your OS to be a hog for... more so for 64 bit versions
isnt this what computers were made to do? and now that it can do it far better then before people bitch

"oh no, vista is using like 60% of my memory!" ....because its all that's running, so don't you want it running at peak efficiency?
with my 8g, windows running all alone can get up to 74% usage of memory. that's a very good thing.

computers are smart, they MOVE memory when its needed
