Author Topic: Repeated attempts to Host Rooms have all failed... PLEASE HELP!  (Read 1821 times)

Alright... here's the story:

I've attempted to host a multiplayer room in Blockland several times. I've forwarded the necessary ports within my router's settings... and yet it always seems that my room appears DEAD on the list! I don't know if there's anything else I need to do, but I'm in a state of panic from being unable to solve this problem. If anyone can shed some light on this situation, please let me know.

Here's something else... I'd like to restore my wireless router to it's original factory settings. Any idea how? It's a Linksys WRT54G.

Look around the help forum for Port Forwarding... there are a few stickied topics.

I've located and followed all directions from these threads, and I've still come up short. No matter what happens, my room is DEAD.

Those type of routers never Port Forward BL

Are you sure? Where did you obtain that info? Otherwise... it's gonna be a cruddy life for me. haha

I have one of those routers. Hold down the lock thing on top of it for like 5-10 seconds. That should work to reset it to factory settings.

I had this problem ages ago... For me it was Windows firewall having a spaz...

If you are running Windows firewall:

Start>Control Panel>Windows Firewall.

On the Exceptions tab, click 'Add Port...' and enter the details:
Name: blockland
Port: 28000
TCP/UDP: TCP

Do it again, but this time click UDP, see below:

Name: blockland
Port: 28000
TCP/UDP: UDP

While you are there, check to see if Blockland.exe is on the list.  If it isn't, click 'Add Program...' and search for Blockland.exe and add it.

It seemed to not matter whether windows firewall was on or off, but this fixed it.
I am not sure what to do for vista, but shouldn't be too different.

Best of luck.

I've done all these things, and yet when I start my room and disconnect to look at it from the list of rooms... it's still DEAD! Is there something I'm doing wrong??

Yes.

When you disconnect, you're shutting down the server. Of course it shows up dead; you just closed it!

an easy way to see if people can join is to name it free admin, and then change the name when people come  :cookieMonster:

That's a lie. I have the same router. I can host just fine.

Did you set the static IP?
Did you forward ports 28000-28030?
Is your server port set to 28000?
Did you check the status of the server yourself?
If yes, did you leave the game to do so? That would mean you closed the server, so then it turns out dead.
Did you make sure to host Internet and not LAN?
Did you remove the game password?
Did you set the player count higher than 1?

If all this is true, then I'm going to make a room called Ben's Freebuild [free admin] and set the player count to 5. Whoever wants to help me test it would be deeply thanked.

Awesome!!! I'm now hosting my very own room. Thank you all so much for helping me get to this point, and you're all welcome to come play with me whenever you like :D   :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie:
