Author Topic: Installation Issues.  (Read 1135 times)

Well my problem stems from the installation of a game, or more to the point of any time I want to play the game. I can install the game fine and dandy. The problem is that every time I quit the game, then want to play it again at another time, the DOS loader doesn't find key files from installation and I have to do a clean install each time I wish to load and play the game. This has caused my authentication key to become invalid after any number of reinstalls I make to play blockland.

I'd like to be able to actually use the desktop shortcut instead of installing all the time so that I won't need to input my key over and over. It's become a rather irritating process. Any help would be appreciated in this matter. I suppose mentioning I have Vista might shed light on the topic as well since it seems to cause a lot of problems with playing any kind of games.

When i got my new computer with vista i had the EXACT same problem, so you are in luck! Go to my computer, The C drive or w/e you have, then drag the Blockland folder onto the desktop, then try to open it, then it should ask for permission etc. then when its open just open all the sub-folders and then try to run the game!
*all you have to do is open the folders, nothing else, this should give access*

 Hope this helps. =D

Unfortunately it hasn't helped my problem. Whenever I try to open it from wherever the location is, the DOS command window states that it is unable to find the following files to initiate the program:
base/client/init.cs
base/server/init.cs
base/data/init.cs
But it will state that the engine was initialized. I don't know if that helps any but when I copied the folder to the desktop, it didn't ask me to authorize opening them. Only to allow copying to the desktop.

Yes, i'm trying to tell you to open the data, base, and the other main folders and give the computer permission to access these folders...

Sorry if this doesn't help you, worked for me, and all i can do is try to help.

NOW I know your problem, I just looked back at your post. No, don't copy it. Delete the folder you copied and just drag the blockland folder onto the desktop and do what I said in my original post..

This time i am 90% sure this will work!
Hope I helped you solve this problem.

thank you so much!

i had the same problem and i just put the file onto my desktop, opened the files one by one then put the folder back into my c: drive, opened blockland and it started just fine.

People this does work! whoo hoo.

I'm so glad i could help,

if you need anything else just ask!
