I find RAR is basically the same a zip
ok but i put this here to help those in need of more zip. files..any way rar.is just a scripters lazy way out i think...NO OFFENCE TO THOSE SCRIPTERS AS I FIND NO PROBLEM WITH RAR FILES..

Lazy way out?
Making a .zip is just as easy as making a .rar.
Anyways, WinRar is actually free. It may tell you it's a trial, but you can still use it even after it expires.
Go ahead and keep using it. No need for cracks or registration.

Actually, it's often easier (making a .zip).

7zip you ignorant bastards.  It doesn't make .rar files but it can extract them.  It's free, and you can get a version that'll run from a USB stick.  See www.portableapps.com for more information.

why would you want something that runs from USB?
normal users would want something small and simple like a zip/rar app on their comp.
compressing/uncompressed is a super processor hog. why the hell would you want to do it over slow USB?

"oh cool! i found an app that i can use for computer, yet instead put it on some stuffty medium. so i can feel cool about my find"
that's very 6 year old of ya

A note: add winace to your list. Uncompresses just about every compression type.
and yes like winrar.

I can open up .rar and .zip files, and more archive files with Izarc, so i highly suggest Izarc, you can also make archive files too, .zip only i think, or there may be an option

http://www.izarc.org/download.html
It's quite simple, well, to me anyway, i don't know if it's hard to figure out at first

Edit: Nope, the default archive filetypes are ZIP, CAB, BH, JAR, LHA, 7-ZIP, BGA, YZ1, wow, ZIP and 7-ZIP are the only archive files i know in that list xD

I'm not going to download all these programs if I have the ability to extract the files I use commonly.

Just stick with IZarc, it opens .rar, .ace, .zip, .7z, and every other format you could possibly need. Winace comes bundled with adware and sucks anyway.

thanks for all the links to other ites to de rar. stuff..but i use win rar and 7zip so im pritty
set for the job and i dont really need  any more thanks all the same though.

PLEASE ONLY POST RAR FILES HERE THANKS

I just use WinRAR.  When the trial expires, all you get is a tiny window saying that it is not registered.
And you can make bot Zip and Rar files.

With some tweaking, I'm sure you can make Ace and some others too.

I don't need any of those, I modded my computer with a zipper and a lion (To RAR obviously).

But really I just use WinRAR, gets the job done.
