Wow...I make this thread, go to sleep and find it 3 pages back filled with accusations of me being a fanboy.
First off, I did buy the DS lite and I did play it for awhile. I have even played my brothers DS too.
Secondly, I don't hate the DS, nor am I trying to flame Nintendo about it. I just don't like it, and I wanted my money back. It wasn't for me. The games didn't appeal to me.
This thread wasn't about Nintendo, or any other game company. Just about the hazards of impulse buying.
If it's any consolation, I don't like nor want the PSP either and I wouldn't buy a handheld from Microsoft even if they made one unless it had a compelling selection of games that met up with the expectations of a more mature gamer (sorry cooking mama and sudoku don't count). There are other reasons for my decision too.
If it weren't so expensive (about $200 with 2 games) I might have kept it, but alas, I did not.
