Author Topic: So, Sampapa got CPU owned?  (Read 2420 times)

So, today, I reinstalled Windows XP SP2 on my computer. I did the "Repair" so all my previous files stayed.
However, Now I am getting some problems worse than before. First, whenever I attempt to play a video I had, everything crashes. And also, some of my programs refuse to work now.

What should I do to fix this?

I had some stuff like this before. Do any messages come up after the crash? Mine was because of OS memory though.

No, it just locks up.

Nevermind .. try reformatting?

Reformatting is easy.

Insert disk.
Choose a new install and remove the old partition then repartion it.
That is it.

Thats the thing, I didn't want to remove the partition, I just wanted to overwrite the Windows files....WAIT!

That means registrys and stuff.
That mean Xivd and dviX got removed.

AH HA! Maybe thats why I cant play my videos!

Repair just fixes Winodows. It removes the registry but not the stuff. It is really usless because the PC won't recognize things anymore. Removing the partition removes it all. Repair forgets it up more, trust me.

Move things over to a different HDD or upload them.

Hmmm.

That sounds like a good idea.everything right now is forgeted up. Ill mess with this for a few days, and if worse comes to worse, ill change it back.

Tri

I am sure the Microsoft Support Center will provide useful technical support.

Its to late here, if I call someone, im bound to wake my parents.

Those research vids sometimes come with spyware, you gotta scan them first.

Or if you're smart and don't mind the extra 5 gigs, you can emulate a whole other system and just watch your research/surf dangerous internet sites on the emulation
