your spose to select WHERE to save it to when the download pops up.
or preset it in the internet options.

by the way  why the  you posdt crap on my  post  that i dont even care about (just for the record i think your right about the downgrade thing)

does it actually download somewhere? and you cant find it?

and, do your downloads scan after a dl, within firefox?

xp or vista has nothing to do with it

i know it dosent but its like this i click save to disk and  im not sure if it does save or not but my computer isnt that  crappy  so ikm sure it does save goes then the firefox download thing opens wich always opens when a download has been added to  my computer

thank you

yes it does vista fails at everything

common thing i think is happening. an error with new firefox some people are getting.
it scans downloads automatiucally, but sometimes its stupid and assumes all downloads are viruses, and deletes em.

in the firebox URL box, type about:config and enter that/go there. agree to the warning about voiding your software warranty, god forbid you ruin a free re-downloadable copy of firefox.

then scroll down all the settings till you find: browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
it should be set to "true" you want to switch it to "false" to disable it

then try to redownload things, try to save them to your desktop.

this may or may not be the problem

how bout i try win zip would that just keep it or is there a way of taking win rar of the defulat way of  downloading a  file from the intenet explorer

winrar isn't downloading. its what is used to open compressed files after you already downloaded something.
your problem sounds like a browser setting. try what i told you with your firefox first.

look on your desktop. I think firefox autosaves it there, or right click and open containing folder.
