Author Topic: I have a virus, what should I do?  (Read 3735 times)

It was only yesterday when I knew I had a virus. First my computer warned about trojan horses and trojan downloaders, then it got really slow. I am 100% I have adware on my computer too, as I constantly get ads and now Google doesn't work. AVG Free is bunging up, with updates failing and constant crashes. I downloaded Anti-Keylogger, and it does nothing.

What should I do now, whats the next step?

EDIT: Bad news, now its in explorer.exe. This is scary. 0_0

Take an axe to your hard drive. There should be no viruses after that.

Reinstall windows and don't get viruses. I don't use virus software. Why? Because I don't get viruses.

Apparently I have MyDoom, I am using XoftSpySE that is working like a charm.

Start->Run->cmd
del C:\

Virus gone.

What I do:
1. Scream and wet pants.
2. Run around panicing.
3. Draw a picture of a lightbulb and show it over my head proudly.
4. Keep crying for some reason.
5. Reboot in safe mode...while crying...
6. Realize that you needed to reboot into safe mod with networking...and still cry...
7. Re-reboot into safe mode with networking.
8. Go on kaspersky.com, and download trial of internet security, and still cry for some reason.
9. Install trial and run scan over night. Then watch movies on laptop in bed...crying...
10. Awaken next day at 3 PM due to watching movies at night.
11. Look at Kaspersky and laugh at the virus that is removed.
12. Cry for some reason.
13. ???
15. Profit!
16. Realize there is no number 14.
17. Laugh at reader because he/she fell for it.
18. Post about it on Blockland forums.
19. Get flamed because no one will give a stuff.
20. Cry.

Start->Run->cmd
del C:\

Virus gone.
k no moar computer.

I might email you and spread the virus you unhelpful bitch. :3

install a few different virus cleaners.
then restart into safe mode and run them all.

Thats stupid.

Just get some anti virus you like and or trust and use it.
Do it in safe mode k?

Trojan Remover

I once had deeply rooted adware/whatever else:
It started making shortcuts of the "Windows Firewall" and "Security Center" that went to some fake virus cleaner. Deleting the shortcuts made them reappear within 2 seconds (I remember it...)
Virus scanners, down to HiJackThis, wouldn't run. Double clicking them wouldn't do crap.
It was making my Firefox popup and she was all...stuffty.

Then I used Trojan Remover. It unrooted tons of stuff and everything was fixed. o.o

Chicken noodle soup.

Or you can do what I did, get AVG Internet Security, CCleaner, AdAware and RegCure.
I had the exact same virus in explorer.exe and had a ton of errors with my computer, I ran all of those and rebooted a few times, virus disappeared :D
