Also, IF you own a mac, play
Blockland on it instead of emulating vista. Vista eats your ram, so it eats your fps.

I run Vista with Aero and I get better BL performance than I did on XP.

Might wanna make sure you check your facts next time you decide to judge something.

yah there is a difference between using lots of ram, then using UP your ram
lots of ram = so loving what?
used up = get more then? its loving cheap?

lot of people think that memory power so closely relates to FPS
sign of amateurs

Seriously.

Vista doesn't consume your RAM, it utilizes it when it is not being used for anything else. As soon as another application requests the use of the RAM (such as a game), Vista surrenders the use of the memory to the application. The only time when the amount of RAM you have/is being used matters is when you run out. This should almost never happen unless your running several applications which require large amounts of temporarily stored data (such as models and textures in a game).

The real component that is effecting your FPS is your graphics card. If you're using an integrated graphics chipset then you have no room to complain, upgrade you cheap bastards. If your dedicated GPU is not performing well enough, try updating your drivers and/or lowering the settings of the game (main one being resolution). If it is still not satisfactory then it is time to upgrade.

you WANT your computer to use lots of your memory, that makes its moneys worth lol. and allows you to multitask and run anything MUCH better.
why people hate it is way beyond me :\

if you had 512memory, and your computer was using 512 you bitch and cry.
-and the comp runs like stuff

same everything but you have 4gigs of memory, and 512 is being used. you bitch and cry
-except the computer is working in this case

Makes perfect sense to me. Why blame being cheap and having old outdated hardware when you can just blame it on the operating system thereby shifting blame to someone else?

The Mojave experiment comes to mind. Without preconceived notions of hatred towards Vista, most found it to be a great operating system. The same kind of bandwagon logic applies to the whole "Macs can edit media better than PC's" fad.

i have actually never seen my comp use more then maybe 3.5 gigs of memory at any 1 time.
and that was with me:
-minimized sim city 4
-about 8 firefox tabs
-2 messengers
-utorrent
-some online radio station
-5 vista sidebar items
all idle (with vista desktop as active window) for like 6 hours.

its actually a waste to have the 8gigs i got. i know the future holds true for hopes of new software and games. but people way overate RAM
edit:
if i had seen all this using maybe a gig of memory, i would NOT assume vista just runs better, or this crap that vista hating kids convince themselves of.
i would be pissed that the computer isnt running well at all. that memory usage isn't proportioned enough to my hardware possibilities

OMG THAT 8 GIGS IS A WASTE!

You had it coming  :cookieMonster:

im not sure how memory works with vista or xp. i know the math is way different though.
ive seen fresh install vista32 with 512m idle at400ish
while same fresh install with 2gigs of memory ive seen idle at 1.2

why? the OS just alotts memory where its needed. if only 1 app is running, your comp is being smart and knows that its where the bulk memory SHOULD go.

Thing is is that some users would not like that to happen and there should be a option to stop that. Just sayin
