I've never seen a real monocle. Even if someone was wearing it on the left eye, I wouldn't even have the slightest thought of them being gay, because of which side they're monocle is on.

How about this, then: You make it on the right eye if you want it on the right eye, because really, all you've got to do is flip the picture horozontally, and put it back in the .zip file.
