Author Topic: 'veterins' and 'critics'  (Read 7217 times)

Keep low. No fail addons, no fail clans, no fail stuff for a good week or two.

Don't attract attention and attention won't fall onto you.

We get plenty of newbies who become well involved in the community without much of a problem. Some others were attention whores as newbies and are still attention whores and generally hated. They're also always the "veterans" that pick on newbies.

I've been around for quite awhile, and i think I've made about 10 actual friends here, at best.
i don't know what it takes to be "L881" around here, but i'm doing it wrong

I reserve the right to criticize your map/addon/whatever else you decide to stuff out.

Out-right flaming isn't helpful, but pointing out the flaws in a modification, however obvious to everyone else, is part of the process of refining user-generated content.

"Veterans" aren't necessarily older than newer members, but are more familiar with the history and practices of the forums and the game. Because we have been around awhile, we have seen a lot of the same problems over and over again and it gets very frustrating sometimes.

I believe the term is "lurk more".

GTFO my forums newbie scum.
Hey, there are other veterans around here.

The way I see it:

Constructive criticism: They keep making crap and act like handicaps

Being forward and saying it sucks: They either try harder next time or leave. I'm fine with either one.

Being popular is easy. Just make it as hard as possible for any of you posts to be attacked. This means they have to be factual, rarely biased if ever at all, and they must never voice any kind of opinion unless you're certain it's on good grounds. Strong opinions will be easily flamed so taking the internet seriously is to be avoided.

The best way to get popular is to post nothing but factual stuff about certain subjects and not really give a stuff after wards unless someone actually proves the fact wrong. Then it might be worth looking into it but still, no fuss required. The internet should not be regarded as serious business. You can't win an internet fight with someone who doesn't give a stuff, you'll just end up looking like an idiot and most assailants i.e. trolls know this.

Actually, you're not supposed to give a stuff about anything, or anyone, or any related factor to anyone.

And that is how I can be 100% wrong and still win, or at least not lose, an argument. :D

Stop your illogical bitching and deal with the astronomical fact that this forum is for people who have guts.

It's true.  If I had a dime for every pusillanimous individual that got scared off by all the flames, I'd be a rich man.

You won't be very popular then sorry.

Seems like the most popular people here are simply good at making irrelivant posts at the right times.

Then you must live in a poor country :panda:
