X is 14. Take the 3x and move it to the other side of the equality, which means you have to reverse its symbol. That leaves you with x + 4 = 18. Subtract 4 from both sides and you get x = 14, which means his age is 14.

First, combine like terms. Since 3x is positive you make it negative and subtract from 4x. Out come is;
1x + 4 = 18. Subract four from eighteen. Result is fourteen. Oh, I see what I did wrong
