Broken head set r broken

Any one know any thing about a Labtec LVA-8450 model head set? I have one here in front of me and although the head set part works the mic won't. I know I probably won't get a helpfull answer but I'm just asking if any one knows what may be causeing this and if it is a common thing I have to update a driver for or some such crap.

Update sound card drivers. Or whatever the hell your motherboard uses if you don't have one.

Just mess around with settings in the control panel. I had to do 80 things to get my mic to work once.

Or it's possible that you bought a faulty one as well. If you still can't get it working from Otis' help, then try getting a cheaper crappier one so you don't waste money if that's the issue. Just send the old one back in for a free replacement. Or return to store and get replacement.
