@Chrono, its because...
1) way more words meaning evil & negative things in our language
If there were more words meaning "lamp" than sadness I really doubt you'd start seeing more poetry about lamps. I don't think that's a good reason to write sad poems. I'm not even sure your claim ("more evil & negative things in our langauge") is true.

Neither do I. That's why I added a #2 there.

I made up some Haiku....

I believe the 'Intelligent Design vs Evolution' discussion belongs in Off-Topic.

Poems can be happy as much as they can be sad. Don't stereo-type poetry into one genre,
also most of my poems I turn into lyrics for songs.

I like poetry much, especially the ones that raises good philosophical questions.

How can I cope?
These feelings are ill.
So much hate and anger,
but only a pill.

The drugs, they cure,
for only a while.
Then I'm down again,
so I open the vial.

What to do?
How to prevail?
These questions I ask,
but the answers, they fail.

So here I am,
knife in my hand,
my answer to life,
is for it to end.

Club is a bitch
Mega's a whore
Now Ive got to go
Theres someone at the door

How can I cope?
These feelings are ill.
So much hate and anger,
but only a pill.

The drugs, they cure,
for only a while.
Then I'm down again,
so I open the vial.

What to do?
How to prevail?
These questions I ask,
but the answers, they fail.

So here I am,
knife in my hand,
my answer to life,
is for it to end.

Did you write it?

Dude! You're a poet and you didn't even know it!

Dude! You're a poet and you didn't even know it!

He can rhyme any time!

if the world wernt deceitful
would the would be small?
if love was required..
would the entrepreneur s be gone?
or would they be strong?

when the time has come
ill wont be long gone
from you
like the rest of them will be

and when the love has died
itll still be strong
in my heart
and all in all for you

if the mind was a book
would it be open or closed?
if the heart had a voice
would it cry or would it scold...
the weak and the cold?

and let me tell you something now
if it all was just a matter of how
then the world would be
a simpler place, to be, in
it would be full of joy
and the heart would no longer be a toy

put the toys in the chest
and let the winners take the fall
if it were all their fault
would we be the villain?

just tell me something true to you
just tell me that you love me too
cuz if i cant love you
than i love to who?

cuz if its all strong
then well all
just be a sound
from the fall

Nothing Gold Can Stay
By: Robert Frost
Nature's first green is gold,
her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower,
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
so Eden sank to grief,
so dawn sinks to day,
nothing gold can stay.

;D

That was really good. :o

Did you write it?
I made it up on the spot to make that post :D I really liked it too.

StarsBy Me, Menen

A
Lone
Star in
the night
Twinkles so
Bright in my eyes.
Like a show of lights.
Makes me Stare, unaware of time.
Many more appear, making Pictures
Called constalations. Dippers,
Lions and warriors. Then the Moon
Comes out too, making starts whine
Silver, Yellow, Gold. I see one Moving with tails of
Light
and falling from the sky.
Then the lights break over the mountains
As the Sun rises and the stars vanish, without being stolen.

Sorry it was suposed to look like a star D:
