Yeah; I didn't go see it even though I could have for free. It just looked like stuff and I didn't want it to ruin my view of Star Wars. I bet George Lucas was reluctant to make that movie.

He has every right to allow this stuff to be made, you are correct about that. But that doesn't mean his vision is appropriate with his former work or even good. Lucas and anyone else with control over Star Wars are not above licensing their franchise out to people who make low quality material. Holiday Special of 1978 anyone?
