Actually, I have no idea why sounds are so loud for guns. I took a sound and changed it to mono, but it was still loud as stuff.
I even lowered the volume on the actual sound via Audacity, and it was still loud.

Well what do you think REAL guns sound like?There probably louder when your holding it and firing it...

Peaceful: PLEASE Stop using those stuffty loving CS:S Sounds, and even so, if you have to: MAKE THEM NON-STEREO FIRST. Love the guns, but the sounds are just awful from every aspect.
