I suck at math and so couldn't figure this out, any help is greatly appreciated:

A rectangular piece of land is enclosed by 30 m of fencing. What is the maximum possible area of the piece of land? What dimensions will give the maximum area?

225m squared. 7.5m x 7.5m

12x2=24m
3x2=6m
24+6=30m

12x3=36m^2

This may be wrong, I did it in my head, but I think its correct. The dimensions are are 12 and 3. The area is 36
225m squared. 7.5m x 7.5m
It has to be a rectangle, and 7.5x7.5 is 56.25, not 225

Sinse a square will have a larger area, each side should be 7.5m.
A=lw
 =(7.5)(7.5)
 =56.25m
Thats the largest possible area, with dimensions of 7.5m on each side.

It is a rectangle -_-

Take geometry fool, squares are rectangles.

Then he would have said equilateral rectangle

Thanks Colten, although I need a whole equation using an x variable. I'm stumped on how I would approach that.

Okay, if you want to be that way.
L = 7.49999999999999...9
and
W = 7.5000000000000...01
There you got your highest possible area with a rectangle.

They most likely want a whole number

Im stumped. Sorry :(

I just need the equation, I can go from there...

Equation including only one x variable please :(

I found better dimensions, but Im still trying to figure out the equation

Dimensions:
8 and 7
6*7=56
8*2=16
7*2=14
16+14=30=Perimeter

Working on equation

EDIT: The equation can only include values that you know from the question?
