Author Topic: Which Xbox 360 should I get?  (Read 3079 times)

I still think it's bull that you can't just use your own drives like the PS3.
You can.

It's called a U-S-B cable.
I wasn't aware of that. I thought they would have at least put some bullstuff lock on the hard drive to force you to buy one.

Wow, huh, never knew.

I suggest the normal Xbox, you don't need any more.  Or get the Halo.
I already do have the original, also I dont know if I can get the halo one. Ill have to look around the shop to see. So far Im going for the Elite since it's immune to the "red ring" I hear...

All new 360s have the newer motherboards and heat sinks.

Only get the Elite if you plan on installing every game you get onto your hard drive.

Otherwise it's only good for the black look. Also, my normal 360 came with RGB cable.
P.S. The 360 is good if you have a big TV. If you have a small-ish TV, you should wait until you have a bigger one unless you can stand with sitting close to the TV to read stuff.

I thought it did, because my dad connected one of his external hard drives and it did nothing.

Alright, would it be okay if someone could tell me what each Xbox 360 console does? just to make it easier. Also pros and cons if you can. Thanks.

They all do the same thing really. Just a mix and match on how much drive space each has and one comes with a Halo helmet you can't even wear. Whooptydoo. But Otis had a good list of what each set had, so I'd go by his post.

Xbox 360:
  • $299.99
  • 60 GB HDD
  • Headset + Wireless controller
  • Standard Cables
Xbox 360 Elite:
  • $399.99
  • 120 GB HDD
  • Headset + Wireless controller
  • HDMI cable + standard
Xbox 360 Arcade:
  • $199.99
  • 256 MB Memory Card
  • Wireless controller
  • Composite cable only
The Arcade is a joke obviously. It all depends on what you will be putting on the hard drive. Do you expect to ever fill 120 GB? Don't forget with the fall update we will be able to install games to the hard drive. If you wish to get more hard drive space later on you will be paying $150 for a 120 GB HDD.

*Edit* Wikipedia article has a nice table to compare features.

Also, why does the list function totally forget up post formatting?

I read the Wiki post and I think the Elite would be best because it has more functions. Thanks, Otis!
