You should make a script which changes the bitmap part of the crosshair GuiBitmapCtrl with one stored in an Add-On folder, clientside, rather than replacing default files.

You should not design an Add-On to overwrite default files and it should be installable like every other client Add-On on the forums.

If you're going to make a sniper crosshair that covers the entire screen, you should just make a gui that has all of your crosshairs in it that you can switch each other in-game :D

Generally a 4:3 ratio. Look under Options in-game for the screen size.
