For the first time in forever, Ladios felt truely, deeply happy again. They met up again later
and wandered about Kairi's neighborhood. They watched the sun set and went back to her house for some accidentally burnt pizza and caramel apples. They ate together infront of her pourch in the clear night and Ladios felt truely at peace. He finally found someone who seemed to be perfect for him. Kairi was beautiful, funny, kind, and had as deep thoughts as Ladios. She was able to understand him whenever he would talk about like spiritual things, how he thought the universe was, how people were and why they were the way they were. He felt like he finally had someone who would let him be himself. He felt strong around her. He had always been that shy awkward friendly guy that no one really cared about aside from him being a good friend.
Saturday, Ladios is going to go to the Homecoming dance again and will see Kairi there. This time, he wont just be wondering "what if". This time he will be able to go without any doubts. Without any fears. This time, Ladios gets to be strong, gets to be himself.
*Dance*
Ladios waited out in the cold for 30 minutes. He didn't really mind this much as he was to see Kairi soon. Ladios saw his friends Light, Misa, Mello, Roxas and several others and he felt a bit silly that he was somewhat dressed up when they weren't. They went in without him and he continued to wait. He also saw Lian and a friend of hers who also waited for Kairi with him but went inside after a while. Finally, Ladios saw Kairi in the distance and did his best to act nonchalante.... to no avail. They went inside and met up with Lian and her friend again. There was much rejoicing. The four of them wandered through the dance for a bit and played some games. The entire time, Ladios felt kinda awkward with Lian. It felt like she resented him for being there with Kairi. Ladios told Kairi what was on his mind and she assured him it was ok. They went to attempt to dance for a bit, failing humorously. Ladios took Kairi to meet Light and everyone started congradulating Ladios when they saw Ladios and Kairi holding hands. Ladios was a bit flustered but still happy. Lian pulled Kairi aside and started talking to her. Ladios asked what was going on and she said they had to go to the restroom. Ladios decided to stay and dance for a bit to wait for them.
After a while Ladios tried to find them and went to the bathrooms but couldn't see them. He saw two of his friends outside of the bathrooms looking upset. Upon futher inquiry, he discovered the sorce of their negative disposition being the actions of the dance's faculty and the removal of their persons due to the nature of their dancing. In any case, he still had to find Kairi and turned to see them across the walkway. She called him to her and they proceeded to walk back into the dance. When they had the oppertunity, Kairi pulled Ladios aside. She explained to him that Lian was not angry at them for being together. What she was annoyed about was how Ladios seemed to ignore her when he was around Kairi. Ladios then realised that entire night sence he was with Kairi, he had not spoken a word to Lian. Ladios felt like a real jerk. In any case, he apologized and they proceeded to goof off some bit. They met one of Kairi's old friends and Ladios had an obstical course race against him and won. He wanted to go back to dancing but Kairi wanted to spend some more time with her friends. Ladios was ok with this and went back to his friends and danced a bit.
When he got there he saw Rose looking very happy and dancing with some dude Ladios was slightly acquainted with from his first year at that Highschool. Rose's problem was solved. Ladios also found Roxas dancing with a bunch of people and not looking the slightest bit worried. Roxas's problem was solved. Ladios then turned and saw Mello and Light dancing really closely together. Light's problem wa- *thunk* Light saw Ladios and grabbed him and proceeded to yell at him for not dancing with Kairi yet. Ladios explained that she was playing games and Light rolled her eyes and said if Ladios did not dance with her, Light would "shank" him. She went back to dancing with Mello and Ladios just danced by himself for a bit. Suddenly out of the blue a random girl came up to him and asked him to dance. He was quite surprised by this. Never had anyone asked him to dance and meant it, and whenever they did mean it he was always so specticle that he would just walk away blushing with embarassment. Ladios didn't do this, though, and actually danced with this girl. After a bit she had to go and said she would be back in a bit. Immeadiatly afterwards, another random girl asked him to dance. Ladios didn't believe that anyone would actually bother dancing with someone as weird as him, but he figured she didn't really know him so whatever and he danced with her for a bit until she just walked away. Ladios kinda was expecting that but when he turned he saw the first girl and she asked him to dance again. Over her shoulder, Ladios saw Kairi comming. Ladios politely declined the girl's offer, and not because he was being mean or didn't find the girl to be sincere, but because he had someone else to be with.
Ladios, Lian, and Kairi danced together rather jokingly for a bit. Eventually Ladios and Kairi wanted to dance for real but Kairi didn't really know what to do so Ladios asked Light to step in and help. Kairi's friend from the race thing also made them dance together and Ladios saw this dude as cool now. They danced together for the last 15 minutes. The last song was a slow version of "Every time we touch" by Cascada, followed by the bouncy trance version. They danced together and to Ladios, all his troubles seemed to melt away with Kairi in his arms. When it ended, he lost sight of Light, Misa, and the others. He, Kairi, Lian, and their other friend walked to the parking lot and goofed around together on their way out. Lian seemed to be ok with Ladios and Ladios was glad. He walked with them to Lian's dad's car. He said goodbye and hugged Kairi and walked off toward his car. As Ladios drove home, Lian's dad pulled up infront of him and Ladios waved at them and they waved back. Eventually, Ladios had to turn off the main road to go home. At the stoplight where he waited, he watched Kairi dissapear over the hill and smiled to himself over how lucky he was to have met someone as awesome as her. He drove home and got to bed around midnight.
*BEEP BEEP BEEP* Ladios's alarm wakes him up at 6 in the morning. He looks out the window at the trees almost falling over from the wind and sighs and gets ready for work. "One last thing" Ladios says to himself and quickly updates his topic to include how awesome the dance was. Once he ran out of time Ladios took one last quick glance outside and saw not the annoying wind or cold, but the potential for an awesome day and a bright and shining future.
