Is there any way to convert the files, or at lease play them back? I read the whole thing on movies, but I simply want to know how to play back the .rec files.

.rec files arent video files

You can't play back the .rec files, that feature was taken out of the game because it didn't work/ was buggy. There is also no way to convert the .rec files because they are not video files.
