Why do songs take so long to download?

I know we're not supposed to download full songs, but why not? Why is it that it takes so long to download music? I mean, it's just SOUNDS, but why doesn't all the 3-D stuff take longer to load? What is it in the file that makes a song so hard to load? I think that we should try to improve on that, because it's a pain in the butt for me to not be able to listen to music, and a lot of times if my computer hasn't heard the song, it quits out of blockland! So why does it happen?

A slow processor, low RAM, or a slow hard drive (Rare) could cause slowing down aswell. A crappy video card (like mine) can drop your frame rate to the extreme.

Because idiots convert stuff at their highest quality and make you download it or force you to download full songs that are copyrighted and now have a chance of having badspot getting visited by the RIAA because of dumbstuffs

I'm gonna have to go with Chrono's explanation. that seems to make the most sense, but I assume there is no chance of future versions of blockland having a faster down loader? I would assume not. Thank you for telling me why it takes so long ^_^
