The only thing I've noticed that it changed was that it allowed me to play Line Rider on their website, which I never really do anyway. What is it supposed to do?

I tried finding Silverlight test pages, but most of them don't really show anything.

I'm not sure what it is, but when I was downloading C++ Visual Library it asked me if I wanted to download Silverlight.
