Why? :(
It was just a loving sales gimmick to help sell 4th edition.

You don't need money. Books are easy to get, I saw a place letting you download them that wasn't a pirating site. All you need are friends. I <3 D&D.

Isn't pirating illegal?

Don't listen to oromis, he's obviously never played it.

You need $0 to play D&D. You just need to find a group of people to play with. One of the players has to have the core books, an adventure, a play mat, and miniatures(optional). If no one in your group has good experiencing DMing, you may want to stick with pre-made adventures. They sell books with a variety of campaigns and I'm sure there are free ones online. If everyone is new you should switch up DM every so often so everyone gets a feel for it. All the costs for the books and other materials can be split between the players as you only need one copy of the core books.

4th Edition has been very streamlined to make it appealing to new players. The rules for character creation are very simple and are explained n the Player's Handbook.

The most difficult part of playing D&D(and every tabletop game) is finding a good group that meets consistently.
you use minis, ive never used em before, is it any fun?

I might get a D&D Board soon. I saw this thing on the internet where if you have a webcam you can play online with others if you have a board.

Id also like to get into D&D
I asked my brother if would want to play with me and he said yeah
So thats two people, what would you say the minimum is?

There are three engineers in a car; an electrical engineer, a chemical engineer and a Microsoft engineer. Suddenly the car just stops by the side of the road, and the three engineers look at each other wondering what could be wrong.
The electrical engineer suggests stripping down the electronics of the car and trying to trace where a fault might have occurred. The chemical engineer, not knowing much about cars, suggests that maybe the fuel is becoming emulsified and getting blocked somewhere.
Then, the Microsoft engineer, not knowing much about anything, comes up with a suggestion, "Why don't we close all the windows, get out, get back in, open the windows again, and maybe it'll work !?"

Then, the Valve employee says "oh we'll look at that soon"

Can you not go off topic, please?

Played it once. Don't know if its the group I was with or something, but it was boring, confusing, and not fun. Ditched it after a bit to play morrowind. <3 Morrowind and Oblivion.

Pwnage, but my game is loving scratched up. My Xbox360s like "Durhurhur, you have to place this in a Xbox360 durhurhur" You ARE a fricken 360!

Board?

We use our spare die to show anything we need a visual of.  Or you use pencil and paper.

I always wanted to try D&D but I have handicapped friends who would be like "do we get guns?"
