Author Topic: Terrains appearing as dirt in terrain editor  (Read 1909 times)

When I opened the terrain editor (Place by slope, height, water level, etc.) there was only about 5 terrains, I noticed they were in a different folder located in Add-Ons, so I went into that folder and added some new terrains, opened up F11 and went to the terrain editor, yay they're listed!
But when I apply one, it's just the dirt texture, this happens with all of them except for the ones that were already in there.

What am I doing wrong?

I don't know, missing textures?
Happened when i only tried to load the Builder's Paradise mission in F11 without including the textures.
But when i try to paint over it i get glitchy paint.

I said I put the terrains in that folder and they showed up on the list, it's just that they show up as dirt when applied, I'm looking at them sitting in the folder right now so I know it's not missing textures.

i had this problem when porting, they would list the names but they were all the same texture,to solve,i would write down the names of the textures, put them in the zipped file, then go back into the editor and load them in 1 by 1 and they worked, also dont forget after you save to go into your add-ons folder and go into the folder for the map,not the zippped file and take that  .ter file and add it to the rest and zipp it all back up,this works for me as you can see with all the maps i ported

Did you try putting a copy of the textures into the folder of the map you're editing and loading them directly from there?

You can't load from any other directory, it doesn't let you choose.

what? ya it does, when i go to load textures i have to scroll though every single texture from every map,i have used ones from multiple folders

As you can see, I can't choose the directory, also all those terrains that are listed appear as dirt when applied, but the ones that were in there already appear normally.

thats not the screen i use to load the textures, use texture painter, there will be 6 boxes with the word change under each box showing the texture,if you click change, that same load file screen will appear and then you can load any texture

But you can't generate terrain using paint terrain, you're missing the whole point.

I think he meant this , unless your generating a map though a bitmap? TBH I'm not sure what you're trying to do.
