MAC only my ass, ZIP files are the only format BL reads as a folder and the reason why they are used for add-ons making it compatible with Windows.

Listen to badspot. If your add-on can't be used by following this one simple step, then your add-on does not work correctly and should be fixed.

No extracting is necessary.
