He hasn't really been playing the whole "family member died card". You have to admit, her death has put him in an awkward position. Had he not mentioned her death, he would be viewed as an apathetic politician, and of course as soon as he does mention it at least someone is going to assume that he is trying to use her death to gain sympathy.

I like how all the McCain supporters comfort themselves by saying "Oh it doesn't matter...Obama will get assassinated if he wins!". Well...here's something for you...

1) Members of the service have already preempted several attempts to assassinate him (and other presidents in the past)

2) If he is killed Joe Biden will take over...and guess what agenda Joe Biden believes in/follows? That's right! Obama's!

3) If Obama and Joe Biden are killed, then the next in line for President is the speaker of the house of Congress...guess which party controls congress and hence that position? The Democrats!

So even if a bunch of tribal morons manage to kill both Obama and Joe Biden, there will still be a democrat as president. Democrats also control the senate too FYI.    :D
