Lag online depends on your computer's ability to run the game. Such as graphics card, processor, and RAM.
The amount of people online at one time does not affect you at all unless you are playing with that group. There are multiple servers you can join, and you can even make one if you know how.
The community can be nice and helpful if you don't act like an idiot and follow the rules, and do what they tell you. If someone is being an idiot, well then they're an idiot. You can always change server.
On a side note, Blockland is definitely worth it. Sometimes it may seem like a bad time because of other players spoiling your mood, but try to get used to the fact that a lot of people play, and some are quite annoying.
Almost everyone likes to curse if they are angry, or if they are trying to look cool.
I would say, but Blockland, but if your looking for a huge, and awesome sandbox game, them this is probably not what your looking for.
