Im not sure what the question is asking.. because if you want to find out what k is you need a 3rd equation. The amount of equations you need to solve for a variable is the same amount of variables you have. for example you have 3 variables here, x, y, and k. thus you need 3 equations in order to solve correctly for each. you have given only 2. If the question is asking something else then please state.

Im not sitting here with a calculator, Im also going to explain the answer.

4.5824789 • 4578(a) + a • 785.9430211 = 1,650

First if you expand everything out you get:

20978.6(a) + 785.9430211a = 1,650

21764.5a = 1650

Divide both sides by 21764.5 and you get:

a = .075811
