Fort Wars
Red vs. Blue

Okay, well over the past week I have been at work non stop on this "game mode", or whatever you want to call it. It is completely based with events, and Chrono's variable events. The only thing that I have added to it is a player type that has limited viewing downward. So I guess I'll explain it.

Basically there are two teams, The Red, and The Blue. They are both stationed at forts opposite of the map. In between them are two small control points, and a middle control point tower. Here's an image from the aerial view.

When you first start out, you spawn in the information room.

In here, you can click on the question mark brick, and receive instructions on how to play the game. After doing so, just simply walk through the portal, and your team will be randomly chosen for you.

After your team is chosen, you will spawn in the class changing room. Here you can pick your class, then where you will spawn on the map except when you pick the Turret player type. (I will explain these systems in a moment.)

Here you can pick your classes, and see the amount of wins Blue/Red have scored.

After you pick your classes, you will pick the place to spawn at on the map. You may only pick places that your team currently controls. (I will explain control points in a moment.)

After you pick the place to spawn, there will be a 5 second delay before you spawn except when you pick your home base. (There's only a 1 second delay for the home base.)

Okay, time to explain control points. In the beginning, you will own 1 control point, and the middle tower control point will be neutral like so.

On this image, you can't spawn anywhere except your home base, and the nearest control point. This is because you don't own any others. When you take control of points, the map in the class changing room will be updated, along with your minimap at the bottom of your screen. Also on this image you can see how the points correspond with the minimap at the bottom of the screen.

You can see here how the bottom map updates along with the class changing room map.

Now, in order to take control of a point, you enter it, and click on it's computer. You can't take control of a control point unless you control all of the control points up to it. So basically if I don't own any of the control points, I can't just go up and take control of the point next to the enemy base. I implemented this so that you can have a "battling the front line" sort of feel.

Here's the small control point near the Red home base.

Here's the small control point near the Blue home base.

Here's the middle tower control point. Notice that it has a small runway on top with 1 stunt plane, and 4 jeep spawns at it's base. The computer is at the top. Also at the top, there's a button that teleports you to the bottom for easy exiting.

Here's the computer inside of the control point near the Red home base. Basically you just run up and click it, then the base changes to your team color, then your team can spawn there.

At each main base there are 3 Jeeps, 1 Tank, and 4 Stunt planes.

Inside the base, you have a medical station which heals you 100%, and a spawn point.

Spawn point.

Also in each base there are 2 turret stations. Turrets are player types as you could see in one of the previous pictures. When you select the turret player type, you spawn in the turret station unless they're both occupied. When inside you'll notice that you can't look down past about half way. This is to ensure that people don't abuse it by using it for ground support. When inside, you can either take down planes with a minigun (not very effective), or you can jump, and fire a tank shell! Be careful though, if you fire at a point close to you in your base, you may die from explosion damage. Tank shells are very effective against aircraft especially when there's two people in the turrets. Turret player types are a key to good defense from what I've seen, so keep them occupied!

Now I bet you're all wondering "What happens when we control all of the points?!". Basically in each base, there are two bunkers accessible by a hatch.

Inside of these bunkers, there's a computer. In order to activate the computer, you must control every single control point. Once activated, the entire base will explode! (Don't worry, you'll be teleported out just before.) When the base explodes, your camera will be switched to an aerial view above the base to watch it explode. Here's a picture of the aerial view.

After the base explodes, all the vehicles respawn, all the players respawn, and the bases revert back to the original layout. Also when all of the players respawn, they are put on randomly to ensure that teams stay relatively balanced. (So one team doesn't dominate the other for 10 rounds in a row.)

There are some issues with the game such as teamkilling. There's no way to prevent this besides convincing the person to stop, or telling an admin (Assuming there's one present). I wish there was a way to solve this, but currently there is not. Also there is no team chat. I'm hoping someone will make a chat event that modifies your minigame chat with events. This would be very helpful, and would make planning out attacks actually possible.

So there's my Fort Wars game. I'm going to try and keep my server up for a long time to ensure everyone gets a chance to play. If you have any suggestions/requests/bugs or glitches to report, please post them here. I will try to improve this as much as possible to ensure everyone has a fun and enjoyable experience playing Fort Wars.

Ironically, I was just talking about you. :3

I know, right.
But isn't this the wrong forum?

Idk...

Awesomes
Agreed. :D
I was there when he first tried it out. It has evolved much sence then.

Well I have horrible news for everyone including myself. You see, right after I clicked post on this topic, I booted up my server very anxiously, and saved bricks instead of loaded them. This means I saved over my save with an empty map. Luckily Swholli had it backed up from about 2 days ago, but this will set me back a long time. If I worked hard at it like I have for this whole week, then It would be ready by next Monday. Although since I have no will power to finish it any more, it will probably take much longer. I apologize to everyone, and myself that I made such a stupid stupid mistake. :(

Oh noes. D:

Hmm...I will forever miss the "original" Fort Wars from Blocklandmods.

Build a fort within certain amount of time, then start a deathmatch and murder everyone.

THIS SOUNDS AMAZING and i will definetely look for this server. Great job! I'm sure you could look at other posts of event makers and message them for assistance. Thank you!!!!!

do want

not rushing you to release though ;D

Can't be THAT bad. I know how it feels for this to happen but i mean from your pictures the builds were pretty simple, not bad, just simple and they work. It seems like most of your thought went into the whole idea of this and your ideas are GREAT. Very cool ideas.

Although this has nothing do to with you, this sounds really cool for a more realistic shooting game. I just don't like shooting RPGs on BL because they're so animated and... not good...

Forgot to add to my earlier post:

Reminds me of Battlefield in a way. Maybe I should help out too? ^^

Good job Warren, even we can't play I still think you did a good job.

And I think this "Conquest/Nodes/Control-Points" needs to be made into a minigame.
