If there's already a thread for this, I'm sorry.

As we speak, I'm learning "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits on my acoustic.

Oh, the fun.

I'm trying to find a solo that's not ridiculous but still challenges me so I can learn it

I'm thinking Hotel California

Hotel California is cake, but effective. Go for it!

I was thinking you were going to get first.

Thanks for the idea.

Soloing is easy, chords are the hard stuff. Solos like metallicas are just 3 notes over and over again in different places on the fretboard, played with fret tapping.

But slides and hammer on/offs are hard to do.

On an acoustic, at least.

Which is all I play because my brother broke my amp.

I started with playing the bass, so I have strong fingers. Hammer ons and pulloffs are only hard if you dont use your fingers enough.

I play drums....

kbye

I laughed. You aren't playing the right solos.

Edit* Try the Heartbreaker (Zeppelin) solo. That's a little different from three note clusters.

Yeah, they're not that hard, they just don't come through well on acoustics.

And I use my fingers plenty.

Oh stuff, blisters!

i play guitar  :cookieMonster:
but i mainly play drums

Money is so much fun to play on bass.

oh and the intro the Sweet Child is easy and is good to show off.

I never said I could only play metallica. Solos are easy, I repeat. I can pick up any guitar, and play a badass solo whenever I want, However I cannot for the like of me play Chords. Perhaps your different Bones, Or im different I dont know. But solo's are in theory and practice easier, they dont require so much chordial coordination.
(also, learned patterns dont represent skill, they represent simple computer like mathematical comprehension, creativity and the ability to create your own music is what makes a musician)

You can make your own music by soloing. This involves using more than three notes. Hate to break it to you, but there aren't even that many solos that only use repetition of three notes. Go listen to some more music, please.
