Author Topic: PS3 + Monitor  (Read 3152 times)

I'm thinking about buying a PS3, but I'm going to have to play it on my computer monitor.
I've already found the cables I'd need, my question is though;
It says that my monitor has to support at least 720p, now, I have no idea what that means, so how would I go about finding out if my monitor is capable of it?
I have a 19" I-INC iF191D

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is your monitor at least 1280x720?

Does it have the proper ports or do you have adapters?

*edit*

Most 19" monitors are 1280x768, so yours should be big enough.

Well, if I go into settings it shows that I can go up to 1440x900, and as for the cables, I was going to use this:

Another quick question:
That cable doesn't seem to split the HDMI into any audio format whatsoever, does this mean I'm going to have to use the built in speakers in my monitor? Or will I not have any sound at all?

Would this work?

It's a lot cheaper, too.

You shouldn't go higher(or lower) from your native resolution which is probably 1280x768 or it'll look funny/distort things.

I guess you can use the crappy built in speakers, headphones, or just use external speakers.

It would be much easier to use a flat screen TV.

Save up your money. And space.

52" LCD.  Also, you may want to use it on a TV if it's gonna get distorted.

72' Projector 1080HD :D

Fail.  72', way too stretched.  I want a 103", but still uber stretched.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

loving over priced

Look at new egg. I got a cable similar to that for free with a new CPU cooler I was getting. Its not worth $120. Its worth 20, at the most.

Not an option. The TV in my room is utter stuff.

Newegg doesn't ship to Canada.
I've decided to use the other cable though, seems to still work and be cheaper. Plus less of a hassle.

I've looked into this and about 2 people seemed to get it to work perfectly on a monitor exactly the same as mine.

Also:
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFffffffffffff Getting the PS3 on Monday instead of Sunday as planned. :(

$32, still expensive, but better.

Shame about canada...wait, what's this little link? Why its
Newegg Canada!

Amazing!

What would I search for to find that second cable...?
