That card is ment for 3D Modelers and game devs. No one in their right mind would buy one for personal use.

I think the topic's title is backwards.
No, the GTX 295 is better, but it's just a sandwich board like the 4870X2 was. They didn't actually make a better card.

It's also $750.

Where are you getting this price from? Last I heard it was estimated to be around $550.

Also, even though the 4870x2 is the most powerful current card, the GTX 280 is still a better buy because it's performance is very close to that of the 4870x2 but can easily cost $50-$150 less (depending on time of purchase).

The price is what will make or break it. ATI's HD4870X2 sells for €400, and since a single GTX280 card currently costs over €335. We're not sure about GTX295 pricing, but we're hoping it will sell for around €500.
Maybe European pricing is just forgeted up, but they're usually pretty accurate on pricing.

Yeah, Europeans pretty much get raped when it comes to pricing. Of course we won't know for sure until release, but most estimates put it around $550.

I think we can both agree the 4870X2 and GTX295 are more power than most people need for the price.

Sensible people stop at the 260/4870.

But then again...sensible people people don't spend $50,000 on a car, but that doesn't mean that that car isn't totally kickass.

ok then, but what about this, you have one-hundred thousand dollars, then would you buy it?
No, I'd wait for the 295.
