How are those Nerf swords Ladios? Friend's kid wants one for his birthday.

Pretty good. It still hurts when you hit someone hard enough but they are softer so thats good. Rather sturdy compared to most foam swords but if you swing it fast enough it does sway slightly. I haven't tried it in combat yet as no one else i know has any.

we had tree branches to fight with
sure I lost an eye and had lots of bruises and they were infected with maggots that had been on the stick

but it was fun

I always used planks of wood we got off of old fences. They are much more often sword shaped than generic tree branches. I did use one tree branch once but it was almost as long as I was tall and I used it as kinda a oversized claymore. Sorta like that one dude with the giant sword in Ruroni Kenchin

and we used branches with the width of a keyboard.
