Also the 'spike' is called a taper and is used to stretch from one size jewlery to the next. I just lost my plugs in my pool so I have to keep the tapers in to prevent the hole from shrinking a little. That's why. Then again I doubt you'd know stuff about anything like that because you obviously don't care in the first place lol
