I find it easier to get the expression I want when using a mirror shot. I'd rather not stand around and take 300 pictures, when I can get it right in 3 by using a mirror.

The fact it used to be mostly women and gays that would take photos like that but the new age of metros has made it normal for guys to do it. Though any guy who takes shirtless mirror shots while tensing is automatically labeled gay douche for life.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say.
Building on what Warren said, it's extremely hard to get yourself actually in the frame unless you can see the image preview.
