yeah, being social with someone you care about, no matter how fleetingly, and enjoying your time with friends on a rare occasion is loving disgusting.

i had the same mindset: ew dances suck loud rap music etc etc
but when i actually went, i had a blast. i hung out with friends. grinded against some hot chick and got laid. that was totally worth the loving money i spent. it was a really awesome night.
