I took butters to the vet today since he still feels like he is burning up and can't eat much at all. I discovered he might have major liver/kidney issues... I don't want to and can't lose my best friend

Unfortunately you did choose an animal with relatively short lifespan compared to humans. You are going to have to decide if the cost and possibility of even being able to treat his condition is worth the emotional attachment and number of years butters has left. I am unaware of butter's age, i'll assume he is a young dog. If you think that this event is tragic, imagine what it will be like as he gets older. More medical conditions will arise, poor eyesight, osteoporosis, liver failure, etc. These things, if treatable, will most likely only treat the symptoms and not the condition and will be a strain on any budget.

It also brings up a nice discussion of what point in relevance to an animals life expectancy are they no longer worth the burden/cost to treat medically.

Makes me glad I chose turtles as a pet. While i've invested a forget load of money on these little bitches, they are fully capable of living beyond 85 years of age and will definitely outlive me given proper care.

Emo Freak, youre a richard.

oh yeah well turtles are STUPID and they dont even have emotions

does a turtle get extremely happy when you get home and greet you by jumping around/on you

What? I gave an objective standpoint for him to think about. I posed a question for the sake of discussion. Never did I say he should not attempt treatment for his dog. If you read my post and became disgruntled by it, you did not read it well enough.

You can't easily compare turtles and dogs. If you pose that assumption I can easily say in comparison elephants make dogs look stupid as well. I can attest that turtles do have some range of emotion, so like the first point that falls flat.

If turtles could jump I would be covered in water every time I get home. If eating makes you happy, and for most humans it does; then yes I would say they are happy to see me when I get home.

Doubley edit: I conversed with a co-worker who also happens to be an English tutor with a masters degree and upon reciting my op to her she told me I sounded like a robot and was devoid of emotion. Though she did acknowledge my desire to provide a non-biased and non-subjective comment in attempts to avoid a caustic reaction.
I apologize. My post was not meant in any way to bash his choice of pet or his want to care for his dog. To reiterate, I provided an objective standpoint for him to consider before investing in the healthcare of his beloved.

FYI purposely bashing my choice of pet as a response and calling me a richard is by no means a discussion and dilutes the conversation.

and then heres todays bed hair

Holy stuff, did you have hairspray/gel in it? I can get pretty bad bed hair but not like that. Is that what it usually is in the morning?

i like how people always defend themselves when they insult someone by saying it was just their opinion and this and that

but theres a huge difference between giving your opinion on something and insulting someone
Yeah I realized what I said was extremely rude, I clearly wasn't thinking. I could and should have worded what I said in a kinder way. My mistake. Sorry BG.

he ended up drunk to oblivion and had to crash with me because there was no way i was getting him home to his mom like that
