best to least:
DVI
VGA
Composite (green, blue, red)
S-video
Component (yellow) /w red, white sound cords

never ever convert downward, you can always do it, but it blows.
converting upward actually gives better refresh rates,  however no change in quality

dvi, vga, and svideo come with and without gold shielded wires also, and it does make a difference on a computer monitor, but you wont notice on any tv

What about HMDI?  :D

second best, if on my list there.
its just not one i would ever use lol. no reason

when converting and connecting things to or from a computer or computer monitor, people need to know what cords and connections are brown townog, and what ones are digital.
you will get a noticeable drop of quality and frames when you play a high end game (digital), on a high end video card (digital), on your modern LCD flat monitor (digital), and use a vga (blue monitor plug) cord (brown townog) lol

your converting out of digital, then back into digital data. its slow and stuffty this is one of the biggest reasons good comps can get stuffty frames
