Author Topic: Graphics Cards :/  (Read 860 times)

There's too many. I want to go nvidia, because I've been very pleased by their products. I kinda want the 9800 gt, which looks crappy compared to mah 7950 gx2 but I don't really know. I just got a 22" widescreen monitor and now all of my games are laggy (Tf2, CS:S, etc.) when I play them, and it's quite annoying, seeing as they all were fine when I was running 2 monitors.

I are having trouble. Halp. :D

Edit: I sound like I don't have a loving clue about computers :o

Urmmmmmm Hmmmmmm, it'd help if I paid attention to graphics cards. No idea. However I've got an ATI 4850 HD :D

Meh, i have a 5200 FX.

And also, play in a smaller resolution, it helps.
I have to survive on the lowest setting for Gmod/TF2

When asking for advice on parts it would be nice to provide a spec sheet for your computer. For video cards, it's most important to know your motherboard, power supply, and case size. A budget would also be helpful.

A 9800GT is vastly superior to your old 7 series card. Don't just look at things like memory size, interface, and clock ratings and think it's better.

9800GT 1 GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130391
9800GT 512MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130397 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130380 The first one takes up two bays and the second one takes up one. The first one is probably designed to run cooler.

You can still get better 9 series cards for under $200, but you haven't said anything about what you want to pay.

The 4850 is also a good budget priced series if you wish to use ATI instead of Nvidia.

I'm gonna look around at those links and surf more I suppose. I don't really know how much I want to spend of if I want to spend at all. I'm also going to tweak my settings on this card, play in the Nvidia control panel and set things more efficiently, because the card I have is amazing and is in great working condition still. I also should probably not upgrade until college so I can go all out then :3

Thanks for help, locking.
