Author Topic: Parkour: How the hell do I get into it?  (Read 18322 times)

Well, I'm looking for a hobby, and I'm nerd enough to wanna run like a ninja. Parkour is the closest thing to it. That, and I need a new hobby. Now, I'm kinda out of shape, I don't got any muscles really, but I have an athlete's metabolism. Anyone know how I could get into Parkour and not *die?  :cookieMonster:
*Yes I know it's dangerous, I just want to be alive ya know :P

I, too, wish to know this.

Just go to a park and start vaulting over stuff and doing flips off swing sets.
Hope you don't die and have fun :D

Im going to go play mirrors edge tomorrow thanks to this topic :D

Now from someone who knows about this stuff. IE, Vert I think knows it somewhat.

Whats mirrors edge...?

Whats mirrors edge...?
Freerun game, kinda what I want to do but more impossible.

I'ma wait for it to come out on Steam.

Anyways, I wanna do this too. However, I'm short, and weigh much more than a person my size does. I do weight lifting, can bench press 15 pounds more than my own weight (I weigh 110), increase that max to 5 more pounds every week, and I'm only 13% fat.

I hardly have any endurance, though. I might wanna work on it.

Think I might be OK with a bit of practice?

If only my city had more really high close skyscrapers. that would be perfect.

Didn't think about that. I live in the desert.

Then again, I live at the base of a mountain, where there's a large pile of boulders that are bigger than your average Van. The pile's only half a mile away.

I tried this once.

I went and did a little out in the city, when I was convinced I looked like a douche bag for only being able to twirl around and jump I quit.

Should i add you to the list?

I also would like to learn.

I can do small vaults from object to object but other then that I suck :(

The park is a great place to start imo.
