Author Topic: Parkour: How the hell do I get into it?  (Read 18252 times)

You can't do any running when you have them, because there is no way to treat it.
Don't you have to wait them out or something?

I did downhill running in BC this fall when I was sea kayaking.  Found a mountain with a native burial ground on the top, followed the trail up with some friends, scouted good places allong the trail and then ran down it.  We flew down the entire mountain in well under five minutes, and it was one of my favorite experiances.

Natural landscape always feels better, maybe its more liberating?

Wtf no.
Well maybe running down them, but not up, no, not up.

EDIT: Yeah running down them actually sounds kinda fun actually
Running downhill (if it's steep) is actually really hard to do. Running uphill gets really tough, on the other hand.

If you can't stand running by yourself then bring an mp3 player.

Go faster down the hills so you don't ruin your legs :O

But I'm afraid I'll trip and ruin my legs  :cookieMonster:

Thats where my girlfriend lives!
Where do you usually run?
What's her name? Might just know her. (Unless she's a lot younger/older than me) (Or you can pm me a pic)
We walk around the neighborhood and find good objects to practice on and get better. Sometimes if we find a really good spot we play a "follow the leader" type of game.
Bloor street has some nice spots to practice on for underbars and precisions. We also plan on going downtown this summer.

I doubt you know her, she goes to private school on the east side of town, and I don't have any pics. Haha.

Yes, Bloor West (around yorkville) is a very good spot, but only at night because its always crawling with security guards.
A good place by the waterfront is The Power Plant and that area, running from there in either direction can lead you to some interesting industrial sites.
Anywhere along the train tracks are usually good, Casa Loma is a good example with multiple old abandoned buildings (now condo's, went back this year to find my favorite warehouses were now flats for college kids.), bridges and billboards.
Leslie spit and the industrial area just north of it would be good I think, but I have never had time to check it out.

Ooooh, and Queen Street West by The Alley is a very good spot. I would highly advise checking that out, its one of the best places in the city for basicly anything, I can go into more detail if you don't already know what I'm talking about.

No-one from BL forums Parkour in Cali?

;-;

I get lonely, I only have a handful of friends that Parkour.

I live in Toronto.

Wait, if you live in Toronto, why don't you join Parkour Toronto? There are a lot of people that do it in Toronto. I don't know if anybody has mentioned it yet, but, I've been away. Anything I've missed?

Not really much talked about other than the idea of a parkour clan and me listing spots to go in Toronto.
Do you live in T.O. too? Or how did you hear of Parkour TO?

Just a little project ^^

And, I don't live in T.O, but I was there, and that's where I got into Parkour. I am going up there during the summer I think. But not sure. If I do I will hit you and vert up so we can free run together.

What. No point in joining pkto. I come to their meets sometimes and do whatever. Every summer Dan has this big meet where we travel across the city for 3 days and find spots to parkour at and train. I might go for it this summer, I'll see.
